"Passionate Love"
Drawing, Graphite, Pencil Color, Bronze Painting 11x14 in 160g.
My illustrations based on the novel "Cien años de Soledad" by the writer Gabriel García Márquez.
Here you will find my own illustrated interpretation of moments of love between Rebeca and José Arcadio, a story of passion, challenge, and consequences in the complex narrative of "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
'm passionate about the novel "One Hundred Years of Solitude" the first time I read it I was 23 years old, and despite the fact that it is a required book during school, I never gave it much importance, until years later one day I found the book at home and since I did not have a television and I was looking for something to entertain myself with, I decided to read it, I immersed myself in reading for several days, and since then I could not get rid of reading in general, but especially this beautiful book. Now, after so much time (23 years to be exact), I've taken seriously the task of illustrating my imagination of how I perceive, in particular, the love story between Rebeca and José Arcadio. They defied society, beliefs, taboos, and family values to pursue their happiness. This happiness was based on true love and an indomitable passion, but also on pure dedication, without prejudice, pride, or vanity, with a nakedness of soul and an inexplicable connection from the first moment of their encounter in the story.
This work is made with dedication, passion, and contemplation of love, seen as that to which every human being has the right: to love and be loved.

"The Dream"
Drawing, Graphite, Pencil Color, Bronze and Gold Painting 11x14 in 160g.
The love between Rebeca and José Arcadio is characterized by a strong attraction and physical and emotional connection, yet simultaneously filled with purity, wrapped in a passion that leads them to break with the social conventions of Macondo. Being cousins, and opposed by Úrsula, José Arcadio's mother, they challenge the social norms of the time and of the Buendía family, creating a scandal and their own universe.

""Shelter Beyond the World"
Drawing, Graphite, Pencil Color, Ink 11x14 in 160g.
In this illustration, I wanted to portray Rebeca and José Arcadio not from the intensity of desire alone, but from the quiet refuge that love can become after rebellion. After challenging the expectations of family, society, and morality, their bond transforms into a private universe where tenderness exists beyond judgment.
Wrapped together beneath flowing fabrics and surrounded by organic spirals inspired by the magical atmosphere of Macondo, they appear suspended between dream and memory, protected from the noise of the outside world. The trees curve around them almost like silent witnesses, while the movement of the lines evokes the sensation of time dissolving, as if love itself had created a separate reality for them.
For me, this piece represents the moment when passion becomes shelter — when two souls, despite the chaos surrounding them, find peace in simply belonging to one another. It is an interpretation of love as intimacy, surrender, and emotional refuge; a space where the world momentarily disappears and only human connection remains.
